The Olive Tree

Is it your first pint today?

Today it was a useful day for my speaking. I was in a pub having a pint of beer while I waited my friend, when two men in theirs early fifty had started to talk with me. It was at evening and they was having pints before work. The conversation started when one of them asked me “is it your first pint today?” When they found out I was foreign we started to talk about the reason I'm in Stafford. I think we had understood quite a lot.
I had tried to justify my poor English, and one of them said me “don't worry, my Spanish is worst”

Tesco

This week we went to the Tesco to do the weekly shopping. It is here like Carrefour in Spain.
I seized to buy a mobile SIM as I can be in contact with Angela and Agus with a best advantageous price than calling with my Spanish SIM. I had fought two days with the Tesco's answering machine in order to activate the mobile number and top-up 10 pounds but finally I had achieved my purpose.

Teas&Hovis

Yesterday morning I walked around Stafford and I would take the opportunity to buy a present to Angela, due this week is her birthday.
Then I went a coffee house named Teas&Hovis where I had a large cappuccino and a “cheese scone” , a kind of “magdalena”. It didn't like and I'm sure I won't order again. It was midday and people in the other tables were having lunch. ¡ I'm not hungry at that time, I refuse to have a lunch so soon!

My new home

This weekend I have started to have the first conversations with the local people. Agus introduced me Friday two workmates, Alan and Joe. Alan is a Bolton supporter and he speak with a very closed accent. I really understand very well to Joe even we had several easy conversations during the night.
Sunday and Saturday were very useful and we did a lot social life in the pub next to Agus' home.
I met Marc and Kate, a couple who often are there and John, a guy who drinks more than he should have and sometimes he became a little annoyed.
In broadly speaking the weekend was very good in order to train my ears but there are already a lot of work to do.

Cancelled

Yesterday was the day to leave to the new adventure. I had the fly at evening and I was all morning worried about the flights delayed and cancelled due to snow. In spite of the news I don't lost hope of fly. When I arrived at the airport, I could see the flight to Liverpool cancelled in the screens. Finally I have changed the flight of another for the day 20th January. So I will take the opportunity to resolve several issues.
